At The Pumpkin Patch Nursery School, we understand that nutrition has an impact in children’s growth and development. During the first five years of life children grow and develop rapidly and it is during these early years that eating habits are formed so it is essential to introduce a healthy and balanced diet from a young age. We ensure that we do our best to support our children and their families with this.
We have a nursery cook who cooks fresh food daily on the premises using fresh ingredients following our six-week seasonal menu. Our nursery cook holds a Level 2 certificate in food hygiene and has maintained our level five food hygiene rating. She keeps up to date with current legislation and will cater to specific dietary requirements and children who have food allergies and intolerances.
The Golden Apple Award is designed by Bury Council’s Food Safety Team, Bury Council’s Public Health Nutritionist and Pennine Care’s NHS Oral Heath Team to improve nutrition, hygiene and dental health for children in early years settings. At The Pumpkin Patch Nursery School, we are proud to have been awarded the Gold Award every year since our opening in 2014.
